My pledges on OMOV, encouraging new members and more support for council candidates

March 18, 2018 at 11:38 AM

Its been really exciting over the first few weeks of the campaign for the deputy leadership of Welsh Labour and it has been great to hear from so many of you about your ideas for building and strengthening the party as we face the challenges of the future. Mae hi wir wedi bod yn gyffrous dros yr wythnosau cyntaf o'r ymgyrch i fod y dirprwy arweinydd ac yn hyfryd i glywed gan gymaint ohonoch am eich syniadau i adeiladu a chodi nerth y blaid wrth inni wynebu sialensiau'r dyfodol.

Now it's time to cast your vote – the ballot opens on Monday, March 19.

If elected with your support I will:
Pe byddwch yn fy ethol, byddaf yn:

  • Visit all parts of Wales, with my trademark red gazebo, to listen to members and make sure their views are taken into account. Ymweld â phob cwr o Gymru, gyda fy gasebo coch nodweddiadol, er mwyn gwrando ar aelodau a sicrhau bydd eu barnau'n cyfri.
  • Make sure dignity and respect is our guiding principle in the Labour movement across Wales. We need our party to be a safe haven for staff and volunteers, especially women. Sicrhau taw urddas a pharch fydd ein hegwyddorion arweiniol yn y mudiad Llafur ar draws Cymru. Mae angen i'n plaid fod yn lloches ddiogel ar gyfer staff a gwirfoddolwyr, yn enwedig menywod.
  • Make members' voices heard loud and clear on OMOV (One Member, One Vote). I will call a special democracy conference to discuss ways to make the party fair, open and representative. I believe this can only strengthen the party and make us more able to fight for the communities which need Labour. Sicrhau caiff llais yr aelodau ei glywed yn gwbl glir ynghylch OMOV (un aelod, un bleidlais). Byddaf yn trefnu cynhadledd democratiaeth arbennig i drafod ffyrdd i wneud y blaid yn deg, agored a chynrychioliadol. Credaf bydd hwn ond yn cryfhau'r Blaid a'n galluogi i ymladd dros y cymunedau sydd angen Llafur.
  • Give councillors a strong voice in the party by establishing a Welsh councillor network that will provide help and support to councillors. Establish a mechanism to encourage more women, young people and members from all communities to stand as council candidates. Rhoi llais cryf i gynghorwyr yn y blaid wrth sefydlu rhwydwaith cynghorwyr Cymreig a fydd yn cynorthwyo a chefnogi cynghorwyr. Byddaf yn sefydlu mecanwaith i annog mwy o fenywod, pobl ifainc ac aelodau o bob cymuned i sefyll fel ymgeiswyr cyngor.
  • Stand up for public services and public service workers. Kick-start a joint campaign with the trade unions to confront the UK government's unfair pay policy and break the grip of austerity. Sefyll lan dros wasanaethau cyhoeddus a gweithwyr gwasanaeth cyhoeddus. Rhoddaf hwb i ymgyrch ar y cyd â'r undebau llafur i wynebu polisi tâl annheg llywodraeth y DU a thorri'r afael llymder.
  • Do everything I can to oppose a chaotic car crash Brexit and tackle the Tories on their reckless Brexit policies. Gwneud popeth y gallaf i wrthwynebu Brexit damwain-car anhrefnus ac ymosod ar y Torïaid am eu polisïau difeddwl Brexit.
  • Shine a light on housing inequality and unfairness and campaign for change. Housing policy is devolved in Wales. We need to fix this crisis affecting our young people and families. Taflu golau ar anghyfartalrwydd cartrefu ac annhegwch ac ymgyrchu dros newid. Datganolir polisi tai i Gymru. Mae angen cywiro'r argyfwng hon sy'n effeithio ar ein pobl ifainc a'u teuluoedd.
  • Campaign to make Wales a greener country. Ymgyrchu dros wneud Cymru'n wlad fwy gwerdd.

I hope you will support me. You should have received your ballot by email – you can vote from Monday, March 19. If you have any problems, please get in touch (see below for ways to contact me).
